INVASION OF KASHMIR BY PAKISTANI ARMY AND MILITARY - 1947

Between India and Pakistan, the most contentious issue is the region of JAMMU & KASHMIR, and PAKISTAN OCCUPIED KASHMIR.

The Kashmir narrative has been distorted completely by various vested political interests. This is a small documentary video on the first war between India and Pakistan in Kashmir. This video is self-explanatory, about the invasion of Kashmir by Pakistani army and militant tribesmen from across the border into Kashmir. Pakistan still illegally has control over a large portion of Kashmir, although the United Nations Security Council had instructed Pakistan to vacate the occupied area, along with the tribesmen it had sent into Kashmir.

Watch this video and comment. For details about the Indo-Pak wars, read my novel SATYA.

SATYA - A Novel

सत्य
SATYA
A Novel (English)

SATYA - means Truth!

However, in this book, a fiction, SATYA has more meanings to it than the original meaning of it in Hindi or other Indian languages.

SATYA is an evolving story of Rukhsar Ahmed, a thirty-two year old lecturer at the 'LUMS' University in Lahore Pakistan.
For twelve years Rukhsar had been searching for her father, a Major in Pakistan Army, who went missing twelve years ago. All through this period her every attempt has been stone-walled by the military establishment in Rawalpindi, Pakistan. When she had almost given up any hopes of seeing her father alive, an anonymous call by a total stranger changes her life. Through the calls, she learns that her father is alive, and being held as a 'prisoner of war' in India. She is invited to visit India with her father's identification papers and take her father, Zubair Ahmed back to Pakistan.

Rukhsar Ahmed, with her beau Aman Khan Bux sets foot on Indian soil and suddenly, she sees a huge contradiction from what she had studied in educational texts, and heard all her life about India and the Indians; as enemies of Muslims, poverty stricken nation with multitude of problems. She however, is surprised but what she finds; a contrast. She feels a transformation in herself.
When she meets her father, she is stunned into disbelief that her father was now working for India, the arch enemy her country had fought war with.

Then begins a journey of discovery of truths; not just about the Kargil war where some Generals had planned and executed to wage war with India, but also the earlier wars which were famously fought between the two neighboring countries. She learns about how and why these wars were fought and how they ended. She and her beau also learn about other skirmishes and wars which are lesser known. She is surprised to learn the atrocities committed and how her countrymen had been lied to, for generations.

Sadly, she also learns how her family and ancestry has been affected by the wars which led to three generations living in three countries and she is oblivious that they live. And, she learns that some people want her, her father and beau dead; for reasons they don't know.

Finally, she has to witness how her new found Indian friend, Prakash Rohatgi and her beau struggle to ward off another sinister, catastrophic war planned by some other Generals in her country. They must stop these Generals lest millions of lives are lost on both sides of the border, and her country would be wiped out.

This book is the story of decent human beings wanting peace between India and Pakistan, and how they work in tandem towards that end.
